Most embarrassing school story:

I fell on the stage after presenting my speech in the Riley Brothers Declamation Contest. The stage was freshly waxed and wet in the corners. After my speech was completed, I turned to go back my seat.My left foot hit a slick spot and I went flying, feet in the air and rear on the floor. I hit so hard and loud that Coach Lovell came running to see if I was hurt. Fortunately, only my dignity was injured. Paul Helton was seated next to me and was in such shock after witnessing the spectacle that he was allowed to be skipped for the time being. He later gave his speech. Johnny Mack Wilson and W.C. Hollandsworth were seated on one of the first rows and had an up close and personal view of the entire incident. Being the
spirited fellas that they were, their laughter was uncontrollable and quite boistrous. They simply could not stop! Everytime they made eye contact with me, they hooted again and again. Their laughter was only curtailed by the fact that they were escorted out of the auditorium by the principal. They received a good tongue lashing .
I saw W.C at Boyette's last Christmas.
We both had a good laugh remembering that evening that was both humiliating and entertaining.
Unfortunately Johhny Mack is no longer with us , but we also shared a laugh over the event the last time I saw him. Oh by the way, Susan Paschall and Henry Harris won that night and they were both wonderful! The only constructive thing the judges said about me was that I recovered from the accicdent gracefully

Patty Jo was such a sweet sweet girl. She always had a smile on her face and a wonderful sense of humor. We had a nice visit at our last reunion. She will be missed by many. God bless sweet friend.

Henry was so bright and had the most wonderful sense of humor. He had the responsibilities of an adult when he was very young and he did it with such class. It saddens me that he is gone so soon. Life without Gloria and his son was just too painful. I spoke to him not long after Gloria passed. It was heartbreaking to hear the pain in his voice. They are reunited now and his pain is over. You will be missed dear friend.

It is hard to believe that she has been gone a year. She fought her dreaded disease so valiantly, never giving into self pity. I miss her sweet smile and laughter. Rest peacefully dear friend. I'll see you again one day and we'll giggle. Jaan Anne
