I've lived in Memphis TN; Martin TN; Murray, Ky; Charlotte N.C.; Dallas TX; and now Nashville since the late 70's. In the mid-80's I traveled the mid-central United States and sold advertising for Polk's World Bank Directory and was the first woman in sales for them in 100 years. I've sold promotional products for the past 22 years for Goldner Associates. Always something new each day. This last year has been challenging.
In the mid 80's I served on the Nashville Board of Habitat for Humanity and chaired the first all women built home built in 7 days. We appeared on Good Morning America. Reba McEntire funded the project and my picture is in her biography opposite page 225. She and her husband Norvell were great to work with and funded a house 3 years in a row. I served on the local and national boards for National Association for Professional Saleswomen and the Nashville Board of Sales and Marketing Executives.
Most unusual thing to happen to me was to be aboard the last Value Jet crash. Four of us from my office were returning from the Promotional Products show in Dallas when the plane touched the tarmac the landing gear on my side of the plane fell off the plane. We skidded the entire length of the runway tipped on one side setting everything behind us on fire. I was the first down the chute. I still have my letter giving me a free flight anywhere they flew as compensation.
I started a small gourmet cooking group several years ago and I would describe myself as a "foodie". I am looking forward to attending "Outstanding in the Field" in September 2009 in Nashville, check it out at www.outstandinginthefield.com. Nashville is fortunate to host this event. I am an avid duplicate bridge player at the Vanderbilt Bridge Club working toward Life Master status. I completed my first 1/2 marathon this past Spring 2009 in the Music City Marathon along with over 30,000 people and it was awesome. Tandem jumped from 14,000 feet with a 1 minute free fall in 2012. Hope the future holds lots of travel to exotic places. I have had good years and bad years, sad years and happy years. Recently single (2008) I look forward to what life brings me in the future.
2014 made Life Master Duplicate Bridge player status in September working toward bronze status. Teaching bridge along with several others in the public school system thru an iniative by Vanderbilt Bridge Center.
